Potato & Aval (Flattened Rice) Fingers


Ingredients:

  • Boiled potatoes - 2
  • Sombu (Fennel seeds) - 1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
  • Perungayam/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry leaves
  • Aval - 1 cup
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt

Preparation:

Grate the boiled potatoes. In a bowl, add the grated potatoes, sombu, chilli powder, garam masala, curry leaves, salt, asafoetida and make a dough.

Powder the aval and mix it along with oil in the potato mixture to make a dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Make small balls out of the dough and roll it into finger shaped patties.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the finger patties till they turn golden brown. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
