Ingredients:
- Idli rice - 1cup
- Red chillies - 2
- Onion - 1 (big size)
- Green chilli - 2 finely chopped
- Curry leaves
- Chana dhal - 2 tbsp
- Split urad dhal - 2 tbsp
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt
- Oil
Preparation:
Soak idli rice along with red chillies for 4 hours and grind into a coarse/smooth batter.
Heat the oil in a pan and once it’s hot, add mustard seeds and let it to crackle. Then, add chana dhal, urad dhal, green chillies, chopped onion, asafoetida, curry leaves, salt and saute it well for 5 minutes. Then, add grated coconut and mix well.
To this, add the batter and mix well for 3 to 4 minutes. Don’t let it burn/cook too much.
Make balls with hand and steam cook it for 5 minutes. Serve hot with coconut/any other chutney.
