Ingredients:
- Oats - 3/4 cup
- Aval/Poha - 1 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Roasted chana dhal - 2 tbsp
- Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp
- Crushed garlic - 2
- Curry leaves
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Red chillies - 2
- Coconut pieces - 1/4 cup
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt
- Coconut Oil
Preparation:
Dry roast the oats and aval (poha) separately for 3 to 4 minutes (don’t let it burn) and keep it aside.
Heat the coconut oil in a pan and once it’s hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it crackle. Then, add the roasted peanuts and saute for few minutes. To that, add curry leaves, red chilli, and crushed garlic and mix well.
To this mixture, add asafoetida, roasted chana dhal, coconut pieces and let it fry till the coconut pieces turn brown.
Turn off the stove and add turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and mix well. To that, add the roasted oats and aval (poha) and mix well.
Relish the mixture with a cup of tea in the evenings!.
