Moong Dhal Suzhiyan


Ingredients for poornam:

  • Moong dhal - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch

Ingredients for batter:

  • Maida - 1/2 cup
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • Dosa batter - 1/4 cup
  • Salt

Preparation:

For Stuffing:

Pressure cook moong dhal and mash it with a masher. Boil 1/4 cup of water and add crushed jaggery and filter it to remove the dust from jaggery. Heat a pan in medium flame and mix the jaggery water, mashed dhal, grated coconut, cardamom powder and a pinch of salt. Store in an air tight container.

For batter:

Mix maida, rice flour, dosa batter and salt in a bowl. Add water and mix well.

Make small balls from the poornam and dip the balls in batter and fry in medium flame.
